Activity Record

An hour by hour record of what you did and how you felt

An activity diary and mood tracker in one. Each hour, jot down what you were doing and rate one feeling you choose to follow, from 0 to 100. After a few days, patterns you could not quite see start to show up. Fill one in free right here in your browser, or get the app to keep it going.

Free. No ads or tracking. Everything you log stays on your device.

Once an hour, three things

  1. Note what you were doing

A few words is plenty. Morning walk, team meeting, dinner with a friend. The app remembers what you type so common activities are one tap next time.

  2. Rate one feeling you follow

Pick a single feeling to track, like stressed or content, and rate how strong it was from 0 to 100. You can add other feelings for the hour too, but one is all it takes.

  3. Watch the patterns appear

After about a week, Insights shows which activities, times of day, and days of the week tend to go with feeling more or less of it, described in plain sentences.

Rate an hour on more than one thing

A feeling is one way to describe an hour. Two more are worth having, and you can turn either on whenever you like, in the app and in the free worksheet.

Pleasure is how much fun, joy, or satisfaction you got from the hour. Some hours are simply enjoyable, and that is worth its own number rather than being folded into how anxious or low you felt.

Mastery is your sense of achievement in it. Feeling capable, having made progress, being in control. Plenty of hours score low on pleasure and high on mastery, and the difference is usually the interesting part.

A day full of pleasant hours and no sense of progress reads very differently from the reverse, and neither shows up if you only track one number. Rate one, two, or all three. Ratings you have already saved keep whatever they were rated under, so turning one on or off never rewrites your history, and each gets its own intensity map and its own set of observations.

See a day take shape, right now

Fill out a day the same way you would in the app: choose a feeling to follow from the feelings wheel, note each hour, and rate how strong that feeling was. The intensity map fills in as you go.

The app

The same record, with reminders, a widget, a lock, and private sync across your devices. Items marked app are in the iPhone, iPad, and Android app. The rest work in the browser worksheet too.

Described in plain words
An intensity map of your days
A colored grid of hours by day shows where a feeling ran high or low at a glance. Tap any square to open that hour.
Plain language insights
Clear observations rather than scores or verdicts. Which mornings tended to feel calmer, which activities showed up alongside tougher hours.
Reminders that fit your day app
Set up to twelve daily reminders. Tap one and you land right on the current hour, ready to log.
A one tap widget app
A home screen and lock screen widget shows today's count and opens the current hour with a single tap.
Your data leaves with you
Export a designed PDF, a CSV spreadsheet, or a full backup you can restore later or carry to a new device.
A record that stays put app
The app keeps your record in its own storage, so it is not at the mercy of the browser cleanup that can wipe a worksheet after a week away. Turn on sync and it stays current across your devices, through iCloud on Apple devices or Google Drive on Android.
Set your own hours app
If you are never awake at 4 a.m., say so, and the day gets shorter to scroll. Any hour you have logged something in still shows, even outside those times, so the setting can never hide your own writing.
Private by design
No account and no servers. Your record lives on your device. If you turn sync on, it also lives in your own iCloud or Google Drive, which we cannot see.
Lock it if you like app
Keep your record for your eyes only with an optional lock. Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode on Apple devices, and fingerprint, face, PIN, or pattern on Android.
English and Spanish app
Switch the whole app, including the widget, between English and Spanish anytime, separate from your device language. The browser worksheet is in English for now.

A note on what this is

Activity Record is a personal journal for noticing your own patterns. It is not a health or medical tool, it gives no advice, and it makes no judgments. Insights only describe what you have logged, in plain language, and leave the meaning to you.

Common questions

What is the difference between the app and the worksheet on this site?

The worksheet is a full activity record you can fill in right in your browser, with nothing to install. It is the quickest way to see whether this suits you. You record the same things in both: the activity, a feeling you follow, optional pleasure and mastery ratings, a note, and any other feelings you noticed. The app adds what a web page cannot do: reminders, a home screen widget, private sync across your devices, an app lock, and storage that your browser cannot clear on its own. They are separate: nothing syncs between them automatically, though the backup file moves a record either way.

Is there an Android version?

Yes. Activity Record is on Google Play and on the App Store, and they are the same app: the same logging, the same insights, the same exports, in English and Spanish. The only real difference is which service optional sync uses, iCloud on Apple devices and your own Google Drive on Android.

What are pleasure and mastery ratings?

Two extra things you can rate an hour on, alongside the feeling you follow. Pleasure is how much fun, joy, or satisfaction you got from it. Mastery is your sense of achievement: feeling capable, having made progress, or being in control. They often disagree, and that disagreement is usually the interesting part. Turn either on in the app’s Settings, or right on the free worksheet. Each gets its own intensity map and its own observations, and ratings you have already saved are never rewritten.

Where is my data stored?

In the app, on your device, and in your own private iCloud or Google Drive storage if you turn sync on. On the worksheet, in the browser you are using and nowhere else. Either way no one else can see it, and there are no servers in between. See the app privacy policy or the website privacy policy.

Can I change the feeling I follow?

Yes, from the Record page or from Settings. Ratings you already saved keep the feeling they were rated under, so you can switch anytime without losing history. There is no preset feeling in either the app or the worksheet: you choose or write your own before you start.

How do reminders work?

In the app, you can set up to twelve daily reminders in Settings. They are scheduled on your device, and tapping one can open the current hour ready to log. The browser worksheet cannot send reminders, because a web page stops running once you close the tab.

What can I export?

From both: a designed PDF, a CSV spreadsheet, your intensity map on its own, and a full backup file you can restore later. The app can also move that backup to a new device. Your record is yours to take with you.
